9'06" is a tribute to the late experimental American composer, John Cage.
His seminal composition 4'33" was written in 1952, with the title of the piece referring to the length of the composition.
It's a common misconception that it features 4 minutes and 33 seconds of silence. In fact, the score is designed for any combination of instruments - with performers encouraged not to play their instruments throughout each of the three movements.
On February 22nd, 2021, a collection of Vaporwave artists gathered at My Pet Flamingo Studios in South Wales, with international guests joining them via satellite link, to recreate the performance.
This was the result of their collective endeavours.
Among the artists (not) playing that day were Vaporwave legend, Saint Pepsi, Donor Lens, Mac Lacrosse, synchro//start, Eyeliner, Timeshare'94 and waterfront dining.
Their performance showcases the many diverse sub-genres and techniques of Vaporwave production; the score has been slowed and reverbed, chopped and screwed to within an inch of its life.
