'Nobody knows who XWaves is… The cassette ‘Vaporwave for China’ was found by the Swedish musician Leonard Norling in a cassette store in Linfen (China). The tape was created by a local unknown artist who sold the cassette to the store owner. After giving it a listen in his hotel room, he knew the album had to be shared with music lovers all over the world.

The files were converted to digital and posted on Soundcloud and it wasn’t long until the album was found by the Vaporwave community on Reddit.

The rough translation of the cassette is ‘Sex Ball’ and ‘Chinese Soda’ but Leonard renamed it to ‘XWaves’ and ‘Vaporwave for China’ for western audiences. 
the album has since become a relic of vaporwave history, but to this day nobody who knows who XWaves is. Leonard returns each year to the street market in Linfen hoping to find another cassette from the same artist, in the hopes the world can hear more XWAVES!'
